A museum to rewrite Egypt’s history

For centuries, the history of ancient Egypt has been told by voices from afar. But today, a new museum promises to change that. Welcome to the Grand Egyptian Museum, an architectural marvel inviting you to discover Egypt’s rich past.

A gateway to the past

Just two kilometers from the majestic pyramids of Giza, an enormous complex spans an area equivalent to 80 football fields! When fully open, the Grand Egyptian Museum will be the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization. To accommodate the many visitors, a new airport, Sphinx International, has even been built nearby.

A royal welcome

Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a gigantic statue of Ramses II, a powerful pharaoh who reigned over 3,200 years ago. Twice a year, the rays of the sun illuminate the face of this statue, reminiscent of a similar phenomenon at the temple of Abu Simbel.

A journey through history

The museum is filled with wonders. A grand staircase with 108 steps, lined with impressive statues, leads to a panoramic view of the Giza pyramids. This journey through history allows visitors to discover the treasures of Tutankhamun, including 30,000 items never seen before.

A world-renowned museum

The Grand Egyptian Museum is compared to the world’s greatest museums, like the British Museum and the Louvre. It promises to inspire a new generation of Egyptian researchers. Thanks to a $950 million loan from Japan and the involvement of the Egyptian Armed Forces Engineering Authority, this museum is a symbol of national pride.

A promising future

With over 50,000 ancient Egyptian artifacts, the museum offers a fascinating dive into history. The treasures of Tutankhamun, including his famous gold masks, will finally be presented in their entirety. The Grand Egyptian Museum is not only a place of exhibition but also a research center that will help write a new chapter of Egypt’s history, told by Egyptians themselves.
