African Children’s Parliament Forum: Children Build Africa’s Future

The 1st African Children’s Parliament Forum in Rabat adopted the Rabat Declaration to enable children to actively participate in the continent’s development.

For the first time, children from several African countries gathered in Rabat, Morocco, on November 21–22 to discuss their rights and role in Africa’s future. At the end of the forum, they adopted the Rabat Declaration, which encourages the creation of an African network for children’s rights and the development of children’s parliaments across all countries.

Children and organizers hope these parliaments will let young people share their opinions on decisions affecting them, monitor public policies, and engage in projects on health, education, and equal opportunities. The forum also recognized Morocco and Princess Lalla Meryem for supporting these initiatives.

Thanks to this Declaration, African children can now help build a fairer, more united continent that listens to their ideas.
