Many children are still unable to attend school, especially in the poorest countries. Let’s explore what can be done to change that!
The 2024 Global Education Monitoring Report by UNESCO reveals that 251 million children and young people are still not in school. Despite some progress, the number of out-of-school youth has barely decreased over the past decade. Why? One major problem is the lack of funding for education in certain countries.
To help, UNESCO suggests ideas like converting debt into education investments. This would allow poorer countries to use a portion of their debt payments to help more children go to school. Thanks to global efforts, such as those led by the G20, this idea could become a reality and help millions of young people learn and build a better future!
