Cape Verde, Mauritius and Seychelles: Bye-bye Measles and Rubella !

Three African countries celebrate a big win for children’s health: measles and rubella have been eliminated thanks to vaccines and careful monitoring.
Cape Verde, Mauritius, and Seychelles are among the first countries in sub-Saharan Africa to say goodbye to measles and rubella! With almost everyone vaccinated, even in the most remote villages, and careful health monitoring, these diseases no longer spread. Health ministers Jorge Figueiredo and Marvin Fanny Vidot remind us that all children, including those from migrant families, had access to vaccines. The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasizes that staying vigilant is important: we must keep monitoring and vaccinating so these illnesses don’t come back. This success shows that with vaccines and teamwork, the health of all children can get better !
