Cape verde : we must save the turtles

On Cape Verde’s beaches, loggerhead turtles lay their eggs. But floating trash threatens their survival. Fortunately, local people are working to protect them.

Cape Verde, off the coast of Senegal, is famous for its beautiful beaches. But behind the postcard views, tons of trash float in from the oceans. This litter is very dangerous for loggerhead turtles, which come each year to lay their eggs on the islands. Cape Verde is the world’s second most important nesting site for these turtles.

Local people and organizations work hard to clean the beaches and protect the nests. They want turtles to grow safely and keep traveling the oceans. Every little action counts: pick up trash, avoid plastic, and respect nature. The turtles are counting on us !
