8 million children in Ethiopia are not going to school because of war and disasters. The organization ECW is helping to give them a chance to learn.
In Ethiopia, 8 million children cannot attend school due to war, natural disasters, and forced displacement. Without school, these children are at risk.
To help them, the organization Education Cannot Wait (ECW) has provided $24 million for an emergency program that will help 170,000 children return to school in the most affected regions, such as Amhara, Somali, and Tigray. This program will last three years and is led by the organization Save the Children, with the help of several partners.
Children living in camps or displaced areas will also be able to learn in safe schools. The goal is to offer them quality education and help them return to formal schooling.
Despite this support, much more needs to be done. ECW is calling on wealthy countries and companies to provide more funding so that all children, even those living in difficult situations, can go to school. Education is a right for every child, and action must be taken quickly!
