An important agreement was signed to protect children working in cocoa plantations in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and with the help of the United States. This agreement will help stop children from working in dangerous conditions.
On November 27, 2024, a major ceremony took place in Côte d’Ivoire to sign a new, very important agreement. The First Lady, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara, announced that Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, the United States, and cocoa producers have decided to work together to stop child labor in cocoa plantations.
Mrs. Ouattara promised to do everything possible to protect children and provide them with a quality education. The goal is to give children the chance to go to school and not be forced to work in the fields. She explained that it will be a big challenge, but by working together, they will succeed.
The governments of the two countries and cocoa producers have committed to closely monitoring the situation and taking steps to ensure that children are no longer exploited. This agreement will last until 2029 and aims to create a better future for children in these regions.
