Ki-Yi Village : a magical place for the arts

@village Ki-Yi

Ki-Yi Village, created in 1983, is a special place in Abidjan where art and culture are at the heart of everyday life. This magical place trains artists and has seen the rise of many famous talents. Today, the village continues to shine thanks to its founder’s passion and the young artists who carry on its legacy.

Ki-Yi Village, founded by the artist Werewere-Liking, is a true temple of the arts. Since 1983, it has become a learning center where dance, singing, theater, painting, music, and many other creative skills are taught. Young people, often school dropouts, come here to discover and develop their talents. Ki-Yi Village is a place where culture is lived daily, with performances, exhibitions, and workshops.

The artists born here, such as Dobet Gnaoré and Bomou Mamadou, often go on to conquer the world with their art. The village is also a magical place where dreams come true, guided by Werewere-Liking’s vision, which has left an indelible mark on the African cultural scene.

Today, thanks to Bacome Niamba, the Ki-Yi foundation is reborn and continues to train young artists. Although aging, the village remains a place where passion for art and culture is more alive than ever.
