Morocco is working hard to ensure that girls and boys have the same opportunities, and it has made progress. According to the latest Gender Equality report, Morocco is now ranked 84th with a score of 63.2. This is an improvement, but there is still much to be done to reach the 2030 goals.
Since 2015, Morocco has been making efforts to improve the lives of women and girls by making changes in education and women’s rights. Despite these efforts, Morocco is still far behind top countries like Switzerland or Scandinavian countries, which have scores close to 90.
In North Africa, Morocco leads in this area, ahead of Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt. However, it still lags behind countries like Mauritius and South Africa, which have implemented excellent policies to ensure equal treatment for girls and boys.
Globally, the situation is a bit concerning. No country seems to be on track to achieve gender equality by 2030. It is therefore crucial for all countries to keep working towards providing equal opportunities and respect for everyone, regardless of gender.
