An exhibition to discover overlooked talents
Until June 30, 2025, the Centre Pompidou is hosting a major exhibition on Black artists who left their mark on Paris between 1950 and 2000.
Long-invisible works
The Paris Noir exhibition showcases 300 works by 150 artists from Africa, the Caribbean, and North America. These creators enriched French art but also faced segregation. The goal? To give them the recognition they deserve.
Through their paintings, sculptures, and photographs, these artists denounced racism and the injustices of their time. The exhibition highlights forgotten talents like Baya, Aimé Césaire, and James Baldwin.
Paris Noir is an invitation to explore a little-known chapter of art history and to celebrate the cultural diversity that shaped Paris.
