Every year on March 21, the world unites to say no to racism. Protests, speeches, and actions highlight the importance of this day…
Each year, on March 21, the world celebrates the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. But why this date? In 1960, in South Africa, the police opened fire on peaceful protesters demanding equality. Sixty-nine people lost their lives. Since then, this day has served as a reminder of the importance of fighting racism everywhere.
This year, protests took place in Paris and several cities around the world. Thousands of people gathered to say: “Stop racism!”
The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, reminded us that racism “destroys lives and undermines justice.” He urged all countries to take action for a fairer world.
Racism has no place in our lives. Everyone can help by respecting others and rejecting hatred. Together, let’s build a world where everyone is equal !
