Rwanda has launched a major campaign to say no to violence against women and girls, aiming to ensure every family lives in peace and free from violence.
Rwanda has started a 16-day campaign to combat gender-based violence. Every year, thousands of women and girls suffer from physical or sexual violence. This year’s campaign theme is “Together for families without violence,” which means everyone must help make families safer and end violence.
At an important meeting in Kigali, Rwanda’s Minister of Gender, Consolée Uwimana, explained that it’s crucial for everyone to work together to solve this problem. She emphasized that everyone can help protect families.
A report from the United Nations shows that one in three women worldwide has experienced violence, often from their current or past partner.
Jennet Kem from UN Women also spoke about this campaign. She said it’s very important to reflect and take action to ensure all women and girls can live in safety. She encouraged everyone to keep fighting for a future without violence against women.
