School in Africa : Progress… but not for everyone yet

In 2025, a report by UNESCO and UNICEF shows that education is improving in Africa — but many children still don’t have access to a good school.

Over the past twenty years, many African countries have worked to ensure that more children can go to school. Today, more children are enrolled than before, which is good news.

But the report also says there are still challenges: some schools lack teachers, materials, or safe buildings. Many children leave school without being able to read or do basic math well — the essential skills for learning.

This shows that school is a treasure that must continue to be protected and improved. To give all children a chance to learn, we need well-trained teachers, strong schools, books — and above all, adults who take this mission seriously. You can help too: by working hard at school, respecting your classmates, and encouraging learning around you.
