The Kataklè comes home after 133 years!

The Kataklè, a royal stool from Benin taken long ago, has finally returned home. After being found in Finland, it was sent back thanks to teamwork between both countries.

Here’s a great story of a long journey home! The Kataklè is not just any stool — it was a special royal seat used by kings in Benin more than 100 years ago. But in 1892, French soldiers took it during colonization, and it disappeared.

For 133 years, no one knew where the Kataklè was… until 2024, when it was found in a museum in Finland! Experts saw it, recognized it, and contacted the right people. The governments of Benin and Finland worked together to bring it back.

Now, the Kataklè will be shown in a Beninese museum, where people can see this important part of their history. For Benin, this is a huge cultural victory — and a sign that lost treasures can come back home one day.

Welcome back, Kataklè !
