Tunisia: 9 million trees to save the forests!

Tunisia is planting trees and fighting wildfires to protect its forests and plan for the future.

This year, there were far fewer wildfires in Tunisia. Naoufel Ben Hahha, the Director General of Forests, reported that only 733 hectares burned, compared to 4,800 hectares in 2023. This decrease is due to more effective firefighting efforts.

At the opening of Forest Week, he also announced a major reforestation project. The goal is to plant 9 million trees to protect nature. Unfortunately, many trees have been cut down in recent years due to diseases and pests that damaged them.

Looking ahead, a new forest strategy will be developed to improve forest and water management in Tunisia by 2050. This will help preserve nature and protect the country’s natural resources. Taking care of our forests is essential for the planet and future generations!
