Youth Revolutionize Tourism in Africa

Young Africans gathered in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, to transform tourism and build a better future.

In Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, a major event took place: the sixth Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Summit and Challenge. This summit highlighted the ideas and projects of young people to improve tourism in Africa.

Emma Kantema-Gaomas, the Deputy Minister of Sport, Youth and National Service, opened the summit. She said, « This event shows how important it is to invest in young people. It’s good for the economy and it’s the right thing to do. »

Tourism is very important for Africa. It helps make money, discover new cultures, and develop our countries in a sustainable way. However, young people face difficulties in accessing education and resources in this field.

The summit aims to train young people to be more skilled and innovative in tourism. « It is essential to find solutions to move Africa’s tourism industry forward by focusing on travel technology, tourism innovation, and youth employability, » added Kantema-Gaomas.

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) helps by creating partnerships between young innovators, industry leaders, and stakeholders. This agreement allows young people to develop their businesses, collaborate across borders, and access new markets.

The summit also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Kantema-Gaomas concluded by reminding everyone that today’s efforts will build the future of African tourism. « Let’s commit to taking bold steps and driving sustainable change, » she said.
