In Nairobi, children from around the world gathered on May 9th and 10th to discuss the future with the UN. They talked about the importance of equality, protecting the planet, and how everyone can make a difference.
The 1st UN Civil Society Forum aims to bring together children, youth, and adults to discuss how they can work together to build a better and fairer future for all. It also seeks to encourage greater participation of children and youth in decisions that affect them.
Children’s voices
Children from everywhere were there, along with important adults and UN people. Everyone said we should all work together to make the world better.
Children spoke up loud and clear. They said everyone should have the same chances in life, that girls and boys should be treated the same way, and that we should all take care of our beautiful planet.
Call to action:
Adults listened to what the children had to say. They said it was important for children to be involved in decisions about the future, because it’s their future too.
We talked about all sorts of things, like how to protect animals, clean our oceans, and make our cities safer and more pleasant for everyone.
We all decided that we need to take action now to make the world better. Every little bit counts, and together, we can do great things!
