Last Sunday, Agnes Ngetich accomplished something extraordinary: she set a brand new world record for women by running a 10-kilometer road race. I came with the goal of surpassing my own personal record
This is 28 seconds faster than the previous mixed-gender road world record set two years ago by Ethiopian athlete Yalemzerf Yehualaw in the Spanish coastal city of Castellon. World Athletics, the organization overseeing global athletics, also highlighted that Agnes’ time was faster than the women’s track world record held by another Ethiopian athlete, Letesenbet Gidey, at 29:01.03.
Agnes Ngetich, visibly thrilled with her performance, shared, « Breaking the 29-minute barrier… I did not expect to achieve such a time. The course was impressive, and I came with the goal of surpassing my own personal record. » This is truly an exceptional achievement for Agnes, proving that determination and effort can lead to incredible results !
