Régis Bamba : the Fintech superhero in Africa

Meet Régis Bamba, a young Ivorian entrepreneur who helps people manage their money with Djamo, a super cool startup in Africa.

In 2019, Régis Bamba left his job at Telecom MTN to become an entrepreneur. With a master’s degree in computer science from Towson University in the United States, he co-founded Djamo in 2020 with Hassan Bourgi. Djamo offers a Visa card for making payments and receiving salaries, even if you don’t have a bank.

Djamo started simply with a Visa card for payments everywhere. Now, they also help receive salaries online, transfer money between bank accounts and phones, and even invest in the stock market.

Djamo helps many people who had never used a bank before. In 2020, Djamo became the first African startup to join Y Combinator in California. With their help, Djamo raised $14 million to grow and help more people.

« We help many people use money for the first time, » says Régis Bamba. Now, they can receive their salary, save, and invest for a better life.

Djamo not only teaches how to use money but also how to save it. « We want everyone to be able to manage their money easily, » he says.

Djamo’s future is to create even more tools to help all Africans have equal economic opportunities, no matter where they live.

« I want to help people have more opportunities, » says Régis Bamba. His work is important for Africa’s future. Every time someone uses Djamo, Africa moves closer to a better future.

Régis is proud of his work and wants to inspire other children to become entrepreneurs. « Our journey is just beginning, and we want to do even more to help Africa, » concludes Régis Bamba.
