From October 10 to 13, 2024, Abidjan will transform into a major fashion stage with the first edition of Abidjan Fashion Week, themed « New Future. »
Abidjan Fashion Week is a special event where fashion designers, artists, and style enthusiasts gather to celebrate fashion in West Africa. The organizers explained at a press conference that this event aims to highlight the importance of fashion for the economy and culture of our country.
Elie Kuame, the creator of this event, stated, « We want more than just runway shows. We want to encourage artisans, share traditions, and protect rare crafts. » It’s a great opportunity to discover local talents and discuss the future of fashion in Côte d’Ivoire.
Georgette Griffit, co-founder of Fashion Week, added that this event is like a big gathering where creativity and passion meet. « It’s an honor to see creators from around the world share their ideas and cultures, » she said.
Fashion Week will also focus on breast cancer awareness. A special day will be dedicated to educating people about the importance of screening and the means to fight this disease.
For this first edition, Olivia Yacé, former Miss Côte d’Ivoire, has been chosen as the ambassador. She praised this wonderful initiative that highlights Ivorian culture.
