UNESCO rewards 2 projects helping girls succeed!

© PEAS Uganda

This year, UNESCO recognized two amazing projects that help girls succeed in school: one in Uganda and the other in Zambia. Let’s find out more!

The 2024 UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education was awarded to two inspiring initiatives. The first is PEAS in Uganda, which helps schools better support teenage girls, and the second is CAMFED in Zambia, which assists girls in finishing their studies and finding jobs.

PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) builds schools where girls feel safe and welcomed. They offer clubs, activities, and well-trained teachers to support them. Thanks to this project, more than 300,000 students in Ghana, Uganda, and Zambia can learn in good conditions every year.

CAMFED (Campaign for Female Education) in Zambia provides financial and social support to help girls stay in school. They are also guided to find jobs after their studies. Since 2001, 617,875 girls have been able to complete their education and prepare for their future thanks to CAMFED.

The award ceremony will take place on October 16, 2024, at UNESCO headquarters. These projects show that with support and teamwork, girls can succeed and pursue their dreams!
