The Dar Gnawa Museum has launched an incredible project: Kouyou, a 100% Moroccan cultural assistant powered by artificial intelligence.
Kouyou uses artificial intelligence to protect and share the cultural heritage of the Gnawa, a spiritual and musical group from Morocco, listed as UNESCO World Heritage. Thanks to this project, everyone will be able to discover mystical rituals, poems, and the history of the Gnawa in a new and innovative way. Kouyou helps make this culture accessible to all, even those who are unfamiliar with these traditions.
Kouyou is not just a technological project; it is also a symbol of cultural resistance. It shows that, through innovation, we can protect traditions while making them modern and accessible. This initiative is also a step toward cooperation among African countries, with future projects in Mali and Senegal to share African musical traditions.
By 2026, Kouyou will expand its scope to include more music and traditions from other regions of Morocco and Africa. By 2030, a major platform, AfriSound, will be launched to offer 100,000 traditional African works for free.
