The giraffe is the tallest land animal in the world. Its long neck allows it to reach leaves high in trees, especially acacia leaves, which many other animals cannot easily reach. Its height also gives it an excellent view of its surroundings.
Despite its impressive neck, a giraffe has the same number of neck bones as humans: seven. The difference is that each vertebra is much longer. Its tongue, which can measure around 45 to 50 centimetres, helps it grab leaves between branches.
