DRC : Kinshasa’s train is back!

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the big city of Kinshasa, a sky-blue train has just started running again! It hadn't moved in almost 15 years !

This train connects the downtown station to the airport, along a 25-kilometre line. Thanks to it, people no longer need to sit stuck in traffic jams for hours just to get around. Every day, it carries thousands of passengers, sometimes packed in tight like sardines! This train is part of a huge project called MetroKin, which plans to build 300 kilometres of railway across the whole city.

One day, it might become the biggest city train network in all of Africa!

Did you know? Kinshasa has almost 20 million people, that’s more than the entire population of Belgium!
