A 2,500-year-old sun temple discovered in Egypt

Along the Nile, a temple dedicated to the Sun God Ra has been uncovered. This amazing discovery tells the story of life and beliefs in ancient Egypt.

2,500 years ago, Egyptians worshipped the Sun God Ra, who brought light to their world. An Italian team of archaeologists has found the remains of a temple built under King Niuserre, in the Abusir necropolis near Cairo. Modern technology allows researchers to explore this ancient site and understand how Egyptians prayed and held ceremonies.

Egyptologist René Preys from the University of Namur says the sun temple is a treasure for history: “It helps us imagine the lives of ancient Egyptians and their connection to the sun, the source of life and light.” These findings show that even after thousands of years, the past still has much to teach us.
