In Kigali, Rwanda, a big meeting took place on April 3 and 4, 2025. More than 1,000 people from all over Africa came to talk about artificial intelligence, or AI. It’s a type of technology that helps machines think a bit like humans.
Presidents like Paul Kagame and Faure Gnassingbé said that Africa must create its own AI solutions, not just use those from other countries. A special center will even open in Kigali to help African nations use AI for health, farming, and schools.
A major company, Cassava Technologies, also announced it will build an « AI factory » in South Africa, with help from Nvidia, a world-famous tech company.
This summit shows that Africa wants to be part of the digital future — and that it’s already on the way!
