Agnes Ngetich : world record in less than 29 minutes for 10 km !

Agnes Ngetich has achieved an outstanding world record: She becomes the first woman to run 10 kilometers in less than 29 minutes !

Last Sunday, Agnes Ngetich accomplished something extraordinary: she set a brand new world record for women by running a 10-kilometer road race. At just 22 years old and hailing from Kenya, Agnes crossed the finish line in Valencia, Spain, in an incredible time of 28 minutes and 46 seconds. This means she is the first woman to run this distance in under 29 minutes!

I came with the goal of surpassing my own personal record

This is 28 seconds faster than the previous mixed-gender road world record set two years ago by Ethiopian athlete Yalemzerf Yehualaw in the Spanish coastal city of Castellon. World Athletics, the organization overseeing global athletics, also highlighted that Agnes’ time was faster than the women’s track world record held by another Ethiopian athlete, Letesenbet Gidey, at 29:01.03.

Agnes Ngetich, visibly thrilled with her performance, shared, « Breaking the 29-minute barrier… I did not expect to achieve such a time. The course was impressive, and I came with the goal of surpassing my own personal record. » This is truly an exceptional achievement for Agnes, proving that determination and effort can lead to incredible results !
