Celebrating 30 years of the Lion King in South Africa !

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of « The Lion King, » Disney Africa and Sunshine Cinema have prepared something truly special…

Imagine watching this fantastic film, with Elton John’s songs and Simba’s adventures, in Zulu! Yes, it’s true!

Screenings are being organized in two major solar-powered cinemas in Cape Town and Durban. But that’s not all! There will also be outdoor screenings in places like KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng until December 2024. All thanks to a super cool vehicle called “Lamu the Landy,” which runs on solar energy.

These screenings aren’t just a movie celebration. They also carry an important message: everyone deserves to watch films in a familiar language and feel included.

The screenings are also an opportunity for young people to work in cinema and make a difference in their communities.

So, as Rafiki would say: “It is time!”
