On December 20, 2024, a unique event took place in Mourouj 1, near Tunis, with the inauguration of the very first traveling circus tent designed and built in Tunisia. This tent, the first of its kind in the Arab world, hosts a series of contemporary circus performances until January 5, 2025.
Tunisian circus history reached a new milestone! The country’s first locally made traveling circus tent was inaugurated at Place Miami in Mourouj 1. This unique project was carried out by the company « Papa Rouni Arts du Cirque, » founded in 2008 by three circus enthusiasts. Thanks to the collaboration of Tunisian engineers and technicians, the 12-meter-high tent, with a capacity for 600 spectators, was equipped with the latest lighting and sound technologies, creating an amazing spectacle.
The performances featured acrobatics, juggling, and aerial acts without animals, providing the audience with a stunning visual and auditory journey. This ambitious project aimed to revolutionize contemporary circus arts in Tunisia and present 100% Tunisian artistic content, from design to production.
