History… Tell Me! Nkrumah: Uniting Africa for a New Future
In this History… Tell Me! episode, we discover Kwame Nkrumah, an African leader who dreamed of a united Africa after Ghana’s independence.

Kwame Nkrumah is an important figure in African history. He became the first leader of independent Ghana, a country that opened the path to many other African independences.
After Ghana gained independence, Nkrumah promoted a powerful idea: a united Africa, where countries would work together to become stronger. He believed in more cooperation and solidarity among African nations.
This vision, known as Pan-Africanism, imagined a continent able to take control of its own future and strengthen its independence.
However, this period was also marked by strong political tensions. Nkrumah’s project faced opposition, and he was eventually overthrown.
Even so, his dream of African unity remains well known and continues to inspire many people today.
