Did You Know? Ancient Egypt Invented Paper!
In this new episode of “Did You Know?”, discover how Ancient Egyptians created one of the most important inventions in history: paper!
Long before notebooks and books existed, people in Ancient Egypt were already writing on a material called papyrus. It was made from a plant that grew along the Nile River. The plant was cut into thin strips, which were then pressed together to create a surface for writing.
Thanks to this invention, Egyptians were able to preserve stories, laws, knowledge and important information for thousands of years. Papyrus later spread across many parts of the ancient world.
This remarkable invention played a key role in the development of writing, education and the sharing of knowledge. It is also a reminder of Africa’s important contribution to world history.
