Ghana : Parliament opens doors to local languages

In Ghana, something truly special is happening to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard! Imagine a world where you could use your native language to speak to the government – well, that’s exactly what Ghana is doing.

The Ghanaian parliament is considering using local languages in their debates. This means that members of parliament will be able to speak in the language they prefer, as long as everyone can understand. It’s like being able to speak in your school in your language and everyone understanding you!

This decision is really cool for several reasons. Firstly, there are over 80 languages in Ghana, so it’s a way to celebrate the country’s diversity. Secondly, it will help people better understand the laws and government decisions, as they will be able to hear debates in their own language.

Imagine being able to understand exactly what the government is deciding and why – that would be awesome, right? It would also make lawmakers more accountable to the people, as they could be directly questioned.

The introduction of local languages in Parliament could also inspire other countries to do the same, making the world even more inclusive and diverse.

Ultimately, it shows that even small changes can have a big impact on our society. And who knows, maybe in the future, we’ll see more countries following Ghana’s example and opening their doors to all languages!
