Guinea: Women Aim to Plant 2.5 Million Trees

Imagine a country where millions of tiny trees slowly grow into large forests. That is the idea behind the “One Woman, One Tree” campaign, launched by the African Women Leaders Network in Guinea and the Network of Women Ministers and Parliamentarians of Guinea.

Their goal is ambitious: to plant 2.5 million trees over five years, or around 500,000 trees each year.

But why plant so many trees? Trees are essential to nature. They help protect soil, provide shelter for many animals and contribute to healthy ecosystems.

The campaign also aims to raise awareness about the importance of protecting forests and restoring areas where vegetation has disappeared.

Women are at the heart of this initiative. The organizers want them to become key players in protecting the environment in their communities.

So, if you could plant a tree today, which one would you choose?
