Kwame Nkrumah was born in 1909 in the Gold Coast, now Ghana. He became an important figure in the country’s fight for independence.
In 1957, Ghana became independent from the United Kingdom. Kwame Nkrumah became its first Prime Minister. He later became Ghana’s first President.
But Nkrumah dreamed even bigger! He believed in Pan-Africanism, an idea that encouraged African countries to work together and build their own future. In 1963, he played an important role in the creation of the Organisation of African Unity.
His superpower? Dreaming big for his country… and thinking about all of Africa!
