Uganda on alert as new Ebola outbreak spreads

@IFCR

The Ugandan Red Cross and the International Federation (IFRC) have launched an emergency appeal to stop a new Ebola outbreak in Uganda…

Since January 30, 2025, nine cases have been confirmed, including one death.

Volunteers are mobilized to educate communities, monitor cases, and assist patients. Ten districts, including the capital Kampala, are at high risk. The Red Cross is providing ambulance services, safe burials, and prevention measures to stop the virus from spreading.

“This is a race against time,” warns Mohamed Babiker from the IFRC. One million Swiss francs have already been allocated, but six million more are needed to strengthen efforts and save lives.
