In Bobo-Dioulasso, deaf and hard-of-hearing dancers are dancing with a special method called Vibra-Signe.
The idea was created by choreographer Yaya Sanou, who founded the Fientan dance company in 2018.
So, how does it work? The dancers use their eyes, hands and bodies to learn the movements. Sign language also helps them follow the choreography.
And what about the music? Drums and djembés create vibrations in the air and on the ground. The dancers can feel these vibrations with their bodies and use them to follow the rhythm.
With Vibra-Signe, Fientan’s dancers show us something amazing: you can follow a dance with your eyes, your hands… and even your whole body!
