The G7 means “Group of Seven”. It brings together seven major developed countries: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. The European Union also takes part in the discussions.
These countries meet to talk about big issues like the economy, climate change, world peace and new technologies. They do not create laws, but they try to share ideas and find solutions together.
The G7 summit is held every year. Each year, one country hosts the meeting. In 2026, France is hosting the summit in Évian, a town located by a large lake.
During these meetings, leaders discuss how to cooperate better and make the world more stable and safer.
